I racked up 29 Rare Candies and used them all on Smorelax. This game is so generous with Rare Candies in the field that it's crazy. I thought I had to grind for them, but thankfully I didn't have to. Her team is all level 100, and most of them are Legendaries. She uses the sprite of Winona, but she's called Marisa, former League Champion. There's someone labeled as an "Extra boss" who can be challenged after you beat the E4/Champion. I don't know what their types are if they even follow the Sweet types, they weren't that big an issue for me to find those kinds of answers. Alternate-form pokemon that you can't obtain, but it was not difficult at all. One's baby-themed, another is carnival-themed, and the third is rock band-themed. Their teams follow certain themes, not the dessert kind. As far as the postgame trainers, 3 of them are Champions from different regions. You face the other rivals a couple of times in the game, with the last time being right in front of the League entrance after you get out of Victory Road. The Champion turns out to be someone you meet that has a negative outlook on humans, it's not your Blue rival. The Roxanne girl is actually the Professor of this game, no Oak. The E4 is completely changed, though using the sprites of familiar faces such as Lance, Wally, and Roxanne, but they have different names. In the postgame, the special trainers you face are much higher than vanilla FRLG. The level curve is similar to regular FRLG, slightly higher maybe, but this only accounts for the main game. At least I think so, I was able to walk out of the final gym, but I went back without healing myself, to follow the intended rules. A neat feature about the gyms that's also in Pokemon Pyrite (Crystal hack) is that you can't exit a gym until you beat the gym leader. The last two Gym Leaders are the leaders of their respective evil teams. Surge was replaced with male twins, yet during the battle, their sprites are of Tate & Liza. Half the Gym Leaders are the regular Kanto ones but with different names, the other half vary. Blue is another rival, but he's made out to be a total loser, he's the only one you can give a name to as well. The rivals are Brendan and May, with different names, but I just call them Brendan and May. The story isn't amazing or well-written, it's mostly just humor, silly dialogue with a penchant for bad puns about sweets and delectables. When in doubt, use Vanilla or Chocolate moves, my team had a couple of useful ones of those types. If I studied the type chart, then I'd lose less, but I wasn't losing a lot, to begin with. Playing in turbo mode also made me not pay attention to damage output so much. I have to admit that I didn't really spend time learning and memorizing the type chart, I just attacked and if it was not effective, it just wasn't. Cherry, Strawberry, and Apple are immune to Sandstorm. Apple types are immune to status and weather conditions. For status conditions and weather, that's another story. There are no immunities when it comes to attacks. Vanilla is like Normal types, that should be obvious. It seemed like Vanilla and Chocolate had the most neutral coverage, the latter only being super-effective against fellow Chocolate types. Only 12 types with a completely changed type chart. There's a downside to that which needs to be addressed. The designs on the Pokemon are pretty awesome, with interesting types assigned to them. Team Sour and Pirates, I think that's what they're called. Rocket's R got erased, so now you just see black clothes, and the Aqua colors got changed to gray and pink. The evil teams wear darker colors, though it involves re-using the sprites for Team Rocket and Aqua, with minor changes. It's very creative, the map looks very tasty, the colors are so bright and pleasing to the eye, going along with the overall aesthetic of the game. It is kind of a short game because there's no big campaign for the postgame, just a couple matches, and some legendaries to catch. I don't know when the hour number changes, and since I played on VBA almost entirely on turbo mode (700-800% speed), the game time definitely should've been higher. First of all, the time is weird in the game, the hour number doesn't turn at 60 minutes, I would see my game time at say 11:88.
